Broomy Hill Hereford
This house was designed by Hereford architect W H Willett and dates from 1883. The noted industrialist Sir Charles Tertius Mander Bt had it remodelled for his daughter c.1904 by Wolverhampton architect Henry G Duncalfe. (The fourth Baronet lives at Owlpen Manor, Gloucestershire, shown in the last photograph.)
The owners wished to add a substantial porch to the rather flat façade, and this was designed to respect the detailing of the original house. The window proportions were reproduced, together with the leaded coloured glazing of the upper casements, and paired doors with margin lights give a generous feeling to the entrance.
